An employee is entitled to convalescence pay only after completing a full year of employment with the employer. The number of convalescence days increases according to seniority (in the first year: 5 days in the private sector). The rate per convalescence day is updated from time to time by extension orders. In the private sector, the rate per convalescence day is NIS 451.5 (after an update in June 2026). In the public sector, the rate is NIS 511.6 per day. Usually, the payment is made in a lump sum during the summer months (June-August) or can be spread throughout the year. Adv. Yaakov Shnitman Labor Law
